Celebration of Life held for Sheila Renee Jackson

Posted

Sheila Renee Curry-Jackson, daughter of the late Raymond P. Curry Jr. & Barbara Ann Wilson, was born January 23, 1967 in Baltimore, Maryland. She traded labor for reward, suddenly, on October 9, 2016.

She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She has been a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church until she was called home to serve.

Sheila received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She matriculated at Harlem Park Junior High School where she met her mentor and her adopted godmother Miss. Q. M. Cooke. Sheila would go on to Northwestern Senior High School; while serving in the ROTC program, she met her soulmate (Clarence).

The story is told, she was rebellious and quite sassy with then flight commander “Ratman.” Ratman, as he was called by his team, coaches, and friends grew quite fond of this young sophomoric belle. He thought it wise to keep Sheila by his side so he married her and this union has lasted over 30 years.

Sheila always valued family. SHE LOVED HER CHILDREN! Wanting to be loved and accepted, Sheila said, “I started having children.”; her greatest accomplishment. From her eldest, Tyvernica to the youngest, she has invested in them completely. Prior to the birth of the apple of her eye, Andrea, her favorite tagline was, “Me and my three.”

Sheila opened her heart and home for many young people. She was “Mother Goose” to many. In 1997, she got a wish no one knew she wanted; Andrea (Wooka) came into her heart. She took infant Wooka and the rest was history; Andrea came and made Sheila smile from her heart. Her life further blossomed when she was blessed with a friend and daughter-in-love, Danyelle. It was on October 9, 2013 that Danyelle blessed her with Chaise and just one year later Coi was added; Sheila had now found her purpose in life. To put it plainly, she adored them and they loved their grand-mommy. To this day, they ask for her; Chaise is persuaded she went to Wal-Mart and will return soon.

Sheila was an extremely dedicated worker not only to the church but the community in which she was groomed-Harlem Park. From there, she went on to serve at Walbrook Senior High School and later much to our surprise she decided to join the Department of Corrections. This was a fun time for her and the family as we watched her evolve into “Robo-Cop” as we often referred to her. Man did she love corrections! She was diligent and very dedicated to the work. She was the glue that kept things from falling apart; the brake for when life came to fast; the honey for those bitter moments and the rock to keep the flood waters at bay.

God knows, He’s got an angel. As a result, we are more encouraged that she is in Heaven, making sure things are straight before we get there.

She was proceeded in death by her father Raymond P. Curry Jr. and her pup - Cinnamon. She leaves her everlasting love to her husband Clarence H.
