A Salute to Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa- from A.M.E. Zion Senior Prelate Monroe

Posted

The world mourns the death of Bishop Desmond Tutu, Archbishop of South Africa. Bishop Tutu is known for his vision, his voice and his venture to help overcome Apartheid in South Africa. He made a significant contribution to end oppression, racism and injustice as a cleric in the Anglican Church. Without question, he sought to live out the meaning of his call from God.

Whether we are willing to accept the challenges of God’s call or not, God calls us to do miracles. Bishop Tutu’s ministry broke barriers, freed people from oppression and injustice, spoke truth to those in power and brought transformation to a society as well as hope and inspiration to those who embraced his message of love, non-violence and goodwill to all people. The transformative deposits made by Bishop Tutu shall forever find a place to live in the minds and hearts of all who were witnesses as well as recipients of his ministry. Such a ministry shall serve as an example for all of us to employ in our daily lives.

May the peace of God continue to sustain us, and the love of God ever embrace us and the power of God enable us to accomplish the challenges of God’s call on our lives.

Bishop Kenneth Monroe, Senior Bishop
