The historic Scott A.M.E. Zion Church located in the St. Mary’s District at 7th and Spruce continues to be a beacon of light to the community. In 2018, Dr. Chandler named the chapel in honor of the late Rev. Dr. L.A. Lawson Sr. and we began our journey in repairs to our edifice. By the grace of God, we raised $62,000 to repair three of the four roofs. Our congregation embraced the motto of our Bishop, the Rt. Rev. W. Darin Moore who said, "It's our OUTREACH that validates our UPREACH!" As such, we have initiated community prayer rallies, "Stop the Violence Marches", Feed the Homeless projects, and partnered with the Department of Health of Delaware to provide COVID-19 testing, vaccinations and AIDS testing.
