The Health Ministry of The A.M.E. Zion Church is pleased to partner with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) to bring you vital information about diabetes. November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and November 14, 2024, is World Diabetes Day in the United States.
During November, we want to raise awareness of the nearly 1 in 2 of us living with diabetes or prediabetes.
The ADA is fighting for a cure for them all.
38.4 million people have diabetes (diagnosed and undiagnosed), 11% of the population.
African Americans are disproportionately affected by the diabetes epidemic, with 12.1% of African Americans having the disease, compared with 7.4% of the non-Hispanic White population1.
We understand that diabetes is not a “stand-alone” disease but can lead to other complications, like frequent ER visits, hospitalizations, kidney disease, vision loss, and even death. Let's do our part to empower people to build healthier lifestyles that last.
