Dr. Mark Conforti to Speak at Hood Seminary’s Opening Convocation

Dr. Mark Conforti will be the speaker for the Seminary’s Opening Convocation on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. The public is welcome to attend this special service which is also free of charge. Dr. Mark Conforti is the Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Theology and United Methodist Studies at Hood Theological Seminary. He received a D.Min. from Wesley Theological Seminary in 2012, a M.Div. from Duke University in 2003, and a B.S. from the University of Florida in 2000. Dr. Conforti is an ordained elder in the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church, currently serving as the Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Salisbury, NC. His book, Clergy Mentoring: The Tie That Binds, explores the biblical, theological, and interpersonal dynamics of mentoring for clergy formation.

Opening Convocation marks the official beginning of the academic year and is a time when the Seminary community joins together asking God’s guidance throughout the coming year. At this time, new students personally sign their names in a document – The Book of Lambs - which serves as a part of the historical record of the Seminary.

Hood Theological Seminary, located at 1810 Lutheran Synod Drive in Salisbury, NC, is a graduate and professional school sponsored by the A.M.E. Zion Church and approved by the University Senate of The United Methodist Church. Its student body, faculty and staff currently comprise persons from many different denominations.
