ATLANTA, GA. January 27, 2025 – In a bold move to transform the breast cancer survivorship experience for women of color, For the Breast of Us, (FTBOU) announces "Breast Cancer BaddieCon" – the first-ever conference designed to shatter stereotypes and address the unspoken challenges faced by survivors of color. The groundbreaking three-day event will take place March 7-9, 2025, in Atlanta, bringing together survivors, healthcare providers, and advocates to reimagine life after diagnosis.
"We're done with the one-size-fits-all approach to breast cancer survivorship," declares Marissa Thomas, Co-Founder and CEO of For the Breast of Us. "BaddieCon isn't another pink-washed conference – it's a movement that's tackling everything from medical gaslighting to sexual wellness after cancer, topics that traditional survivor spaces often ignore."
The conference breaks new ground with sessions that other cancer events won't touch:
- Raw conversations about death, dating, and intimacy after diagnosis
- Strategies for navigating racial bias in healthcare settings
- Mental health support specifically tailored for women of color
- Body image workshops that celebrate diversity in survivorship
With breast cancer mortality rates significantly higher among women of color, BaddieCon arrives at a crucial moment. The event combines evidence-based medical education with cultural competency, featuring renowned oncologists, wellness experts, and survivors who understand the unique challenges faced by this underserved community.
Registration is $250, with scholarships available. The conference expects to draw hundreds of survivors and healthcare professionals from across the country, marking a significant shift in how survivorship is addressed for women of color.
Interview opportunities available with:
- Marissa Thomas, CEO and event visionaries
- Medical experts discussing healthcare disparities
- Survivors sharing powerful personal narratives
- Wellness experts specializing in culturally competent care
