GREENVILLE, S.C. — The International Ministers' Spouses & Widows-ers Fellowship (IMSWF) of The A.M.E. Zion Church has announced the election of Lady Gelenia "Vickie" Frencher as its new International President.

According to an announcement distributed by the Fellowship, all other non-vacant executive positions will remain unchanged. The organization also acknowledged the service of Immediate Past President Rev. Dr. Robin Stitt as leadership transitions to the newly elected president.

In a separate announcement, the Board of Bishops has appointed Bishop Melanie Rogers Miller to serve as Advisor to the International Ministers' Spouses & Widows-ers Fellowship.

Following the announcement of the election, President-elect Frencher expressed appreciation to those who facilitated the process, saying, "I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Bishop Miller, Dr. Sadler and his team, and the nominating committee for their diligence, care, and integrity in guiding this election process. I also want to recognize the smooth and effective way the election was conducted."

She also thanked the outgoing executive board and those who participated in the election, stating, "To every person who prayed, encouraged, and voted, thank you for your trust. We do not take it lightly. We accept this opportunity to serve with a servant's heart."

Looking ahead to the Fellowship's future, Frencher emphasized collaboration and inclusion, saying, "Together, let us draw wide the circle, building a fellowship that's inclusive, nurturing, and never leaving any spouse or widower behind. We invite your prayers, your ideas, and your partnership. With God's guidance, we can strengthen this fellowship for generations to come."

As one of her first initiatives, Frencher announced that members will be asked to complete a Ministry Interest and Leadership Profile to identify ministry experience, spiritual gifts, professional skills, and areas of interest for committee service. The information will be used to help strengthen member engagement and leadership development throughout the Fellowship.

The presidential announcement was released on July 20, 2026, as the Fellowship begins a new chapter in its leadership. Additional information and photographs are expected to be shared by the organization in the coming days.
