Salisbury, NC—Livingstone College is excited to announce its 10th Winter Commencement Ceremony, featuring the esteemed Reverend Shavon Arline-Bradley as the keynote speaker. The ceremony will take place on December 13th at 10:00 AM and will mark a significant moment in the lives of our graduates and the broader community.

As the president and CEO of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), Rev. Arline-Bradley is a powerful voice for social justice and advocacy. She is also the founding principal and CEO of R.E.A.C.H. Beyond Solutions, a dynamic firm specializing in public health, organizational strategy, and government affairs, including serving as senior advisor and director of external engagement in the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General under the Obama administration, where she collaborated closely with Dr. Vivek H. Murthy.

Rev. Arline-Bradley has over 21 years of extensive experience in healthcare, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). She is uniquely equipped to inspire the next generation of leaders. Her passion for public service and commitment to equity have established her as a formidable advocate for change. Additionally, she is a proud member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rev. Arline-Bradley to Livingstone College as our Winter Commencement speaker,” said Dr. Anthony J. Davis, the 13th president of Livingstone College. “Her rich experiences and powerful message will undoubtedly inspire our graduates to pursue their dreams and make positive impacts in their communities and beyond as they embark on their next chapter.”

In addition to Rev. Arline-Bradley’s speech, the college is proud to honor Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Jim Duncan with an honorary doctorate in humane letters. Dr. Duncan, known for his tireless efforts to raise awareness about human trafficking through his nonprofit organization, Project Light Rowan, is a respected figure in the Rowan community and beyond.

Join us in celebrating this momentous occasion as we honor our graduates and the contributions of inspirational leaders in our community. This year’s Winter Commencement promises to be a memorable event filled with hope, inspiration, and the spirit of achievement.
