Tournament season is here, my favorite time of the year, and Livingstone College is ready to hit the court at the 2025 CIAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament! This year holds even greater significance as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) celebrates 50 years of women’s basketball excellence, a milestone that highlights the grit, resilience, and triumphs of incredible athletes across the conference.
Livingstone didn’t just acknowledge this historic moment - they honored their 2000 CIAA Women’s Championship team in a special celebration on February 15. To make it even more memorable, the women’s team debuted special edition jerseys this season, paying tribute to the trailblazers who paved the way. Fifty years of greatness, and we’re just getting started!
Set your televisions now because the action tips off Tuesday, February 25, and wraps up with the championship games on Saturday, March 1, at CFG Arena in Baltimore, MD. The women’s title game tips off at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men’s at 4:00 p.m.
Standout Players & Tournament Brackets
Congratulations to Morgan Kelson, named to the All-CIAA Front Court Team, and Breasia Coit, who earned a spot on the All-Rookie Team - two incredible talents leading the charge for Livingstone!
As the 2025 CIAA Basketball Tournament tips off, Livingstone College is stepping onto the court with confidence and momentum. The men’s team secured the No. 4 seed in the Southern Division and will face Bowie State in their opening matchup on Tuesday, February 25, at 6:40 p.m. After an impressive leap from last year’s fifth-seed finish, the women’s team climbed to the No. 2 seed with a 7-3 division record, proving they are a force to be reckoned with. Their tournament journey begins on Thursday, February 27, at 6:00 p.m., where they will take on the winner of the Bowie State vs. Winston-Salem State opening round game.
Can’t make it to Baltimore? No worries! All 22 games will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+, with the championship matchups also airing on ESPNU.
More than just a basketball tournament, the CIAA embodies the culture, excellence, and unbreakable spirit of HBCUs. Whether you’re cheering from the stands or tuning in from home, let’s rally behind Livingstone and show our support! Let’s go, Blue Bears!
