Promotion Ceremony of Brigadier General Peggy R. McManus

On February 22, 2024, a Promotion Ceremony was held in honor of Colonel Peggy Ratliff McManus to Brigadier General at the Pentagon, Washington, DC. BG McManus is a native of Morven, North Carolina, and a member of the Galilee A.M.E. Zion Church in the Rockingham District of the West Central NC Conference, Piedmont Episcopal District. Presiding Prelate, Bishop Darryl B. Starnes, Sr. She is an Ordained Elder in the A.M.E. Zion Church, receiving her ordination under Bishop George W. Walker, Sr.

She was transferred in January 2023 to her current position as the Deputy Commanding officer and Director, Reserve Personnel Management Directorate, U.S. Army Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, KY.
BG McManus was commissioned from Benedict College, Columbia, South Carolina. Commissioned as an Ordnance officer in 1992 through the Reserve Officers Training Corps.

BG McManus began her career as a Platoon Leader at 175th Maintenance Company, Columbia SC, 1994-1995; Operations Officer 460th Replacement Company, Florence SC, 1998-2000; and Company Commander 460th Replacement Company, Florence SC, 2000-2002.

BG McManus entered the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) program in 2002, serving her initial assignment with the 390th Personnel Group Richmond, Virginia, Operation Officer. Follow-on assignments include Adjutant, 108th Training Command, Charlotte NC, Team Chief, Officer Branch Chief, 108th Training Command, Charlotte NC, Team Chief Acquisition/System United States Army Reserve Command, Fort Bragg NC, Branch Chief Accessions/Training Manning Division, Fort Bragg, NC and Deputy Division Chief, United States Army Reserve Command, Fort Bragg, NC. BG McManus deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait in 2013-2014 where she served as the Army Reserve G-1 Theater Liaison Officer and Acting Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff, Third Army, 2014-2016 Assistant Chief of Staff, 11th TAC Aviation Command, Fort Knox KY, Jul 2016-June 2017 United States Army War College (Resident), Carlisle Barrack, PA, June 2017-September 2018 Personnel Policy Integrator, Pentagon, Washington DC, 2018-2020 Officer Management Division Chief, and Operations Readiness Division Chief at the Human Resources Command, Fort Knox KY. 2020-2022 Deputy Director of Military Personnel Management, Pentagon, Washington DC. August 2022-December 2022 Case Officer Board Member, Department of the Army Review Board Agency (ARBA), Arlington, VA.

BG McManus received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Benedict College, Columbia, South Carolina. Her military education includes the Ordnance Officer Basic Course, Adjutant General Officer Advance Course, Command and General Staff College, and Senior Service College, where she received a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

Her military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/ hourglass.

She is married to Robert McManus Jr., and they have one son, Andre McManus. The West Central NC Conference is also family, and we Salute BG McManus.
