Richard Caswell Moore, Jr. was born on April 20, 1944, in Norfolk, VA, to Richard C. Moore, Sr. and Whilsonia Richardson Moore. Richard attended Booker T. Washington High School and entered the United States Air Force upon graduation. He served our country for seven years.

After his honorable discharge, Richard attended ECPI (Electronic Computer Programming Institute) and received training in the growing field of computer technology. He joined Honeywell and relocated to Charlotte, NC, where he served as a District Manager responsible for several states. He started Sentry Computer Services, a third-party computer service company, in 1984 and ran that company, along with his wife, until his retirement.

Richard joined Little Rock A.M.E. Zion Church upon his arrival in Charlotte. He was an avid music connoisseur. He loved all genres of music, and out of that love, he founded the AMEN Community Chorus. AMEN is an all-male chorus dedicated to enhancing a spiritual bond among men through song. The AMEN Choir is singing today to honor his memory, and his family requested in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the AMEN Choir to further their advancement.

Richard had been a life member of the VFW since 1992. He held the post of Trustee in 2013 and held Post Sr. Vice Commander in 2014. He served as Commander of VFW Post 7775 from 2015-2021, and during his tenure, membership and overall member participation increased. He served as District Commander from 2020-2021 and was an All-American member in 2022-2023.

Richard was a loving husband, caring father, and supportive big brother and friend. He was a tinkerer and could fix anything. He was a joketeller and loved to laugh and have a good time.

Richard Caswell Moore, Jr. departed this life to his heavenly home on October 15, 2023, at The Charlotte Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard C. Moore, Sr; his mother, Whilsonia Richardson Moore; his stepmother, Elizabeth Moore; two brothers, Jackie Moore and Albert Moore; and stepbrother, Lenis Guess.

Richard leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 38 years, Mary Ann Moore of Charlotte, NC; five brothers, Rev. Dr. Olah Moore (Deborah) of Norfolk, VA, Samuel Moore (Edith) of Virginia Beach, VA, Stephen Moore (Linda), Roderick Moore (Sharon) and Clifford Moore all of Charlotte, NC; one brother-in-law Phil Smith (Lisa) of Louisiana; three sisters-in-law Delores Hunter of Charlotte NC, Sussan Sutphen Moore of Atlanta, GA and Minnie Moore of Wilmington, NC; three daughters Sherri

Hunter (Charles) of Woodbridge, VA, Carol Holmes (Gregory) of Spotsylvania, VA, and Nicole Moore

Bailey (Calvin) of Norfolk, VA; 4 grandchildren, Justin Scott (Fetchina) of Virginia Beach, VA, Minda Hunter of Woodbridge, VA, Morgan Holmes of Richmond, VA, and Malia Hunter of Woodbridge, VA; one great-granddaughter Cléo Héloise Jean Louis-Scott of Virginia Beach, VA and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
