Hood Theological Seminary Kicks Off Fall Semester:

New Hy-Flex Model and a Winning Spirit

Posted

The Hood Theological Seminary fall semester officially began Tuesday, August 25, and this semester marks an important step forward for Hood as the Seminary launches its new Hy-Flex delivery model for Track One students. The model gives students greater flexibility by allowing them to participate in class either in person or synchronously online each week. With Tuesdays designated for online instruction and Wednesday and Thursday classes offered in Hy-Flex format, students can choose the learning environment that best fits their schedules and ministry responsibilities.

For Hood, flexibility is more than a convenience; it is part of the Seminary’s commitment to preparing women and men for bold and creative leadership in a diverse world.

That spirit of creativity and collaboration was on full display Thursday, August 27, when Hood Theological Seminary participated in the annual Rowan-Cabarrus College Night Out. The event brings together colleges, universities, and seminaries from throughout the Rowan-Cabarrus area for an evening of food, fun, fellowship, and friendly competition.

This year’s NASCAR-inspired theme invited participants to decorate a pit crew uniform. Hood accepted the challenge and went all in!

Rev. J. Frances King designed the winning vision, while Dr. Angela Davis-Baxter, Dr. Reginald Boyd, Jr., and Rev. Dierdre Parker worked together to bring that vision to life. Their creativity, teamwork, and Hood pride paid off; literally.
Hood Theological Seminary won the pit crew uniform competition and took home the event’s grand prize, fittingly celebrating the theme with a “Grand Prix” finish.

The victory was more than a fun evening out. It was another reminder of what makes the Hood community special: people who are willing to bring their gifts, work together, think creatively, and celebrate one another.

As a new academic year begins, Hood is not simply getting back to business. The Seminary is moving forward with innovation in the classroom, collaboration in the community, and a spirit that knows how to have a little fun along the way.

The fall semester is underway, and Hood Theological Seminary is ready to race into the future!
