Sight & Sound Expands Beyond the Stage With Summer Streaming Debut

Christian entertainment audiences will soon be able to watch Sight & Sound’s Biblically-based stage productions from home through a new streaming partnership with The Wonder Project.

Beginning July 30, The Wonder Project subscription service on Prime Video will debut one Sight & Sound show every two weeks through the summer and fall, starting with the production of Jesus, according to Religion News Service. Additional titles include Ruth, Moses, Noah, Queen Esther, David, Samson, Daniel, and The Miracle of Christmas.

The lineup expands The Wonder Project’s growing library of faith and values-centered programming. The service already streams the Sight & Sound feature film A Great Awakening alongside titles such as The Secret Life of Bees, Mahalia, The Shack, and Sarah’s Oil. Subscribers also have access to mainstream films, including Forrest Gump, Dances with Wolves, Ella Enchanted, Braveheart, and Independence Day. The service costs $8.99 per month.

Ani Haftvani, senior vice president of programming and content acquisitions for The Wonder Project, told Religion News Service that demand for premium faith-based programming continues to grow.

“What we have seen is a strong demand for this premium, faith and values-driven entertainment sector,” Haftvani said. “Instead of being confined to, for example, a holiday or theatrical moment, or a live event, these stories are available whenever they’re ready to engage with them. They’re available on demand.”

Based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Sight & Sound has been producing large-scale biblical stage productions since 1976, drawing nearly 2 million attendees annually. The company is currently staging Joshua at its Lancaster theater and David at its Branson, Missouri, location.
